Meet Sharon, aka Shaz, from Test With a Skewer who is the Top Commenter for January! Like previous top commenters, to thank Sharon I want to introduce her delicious site to you.
I first met Sharon through the Muhibbah Malaysian Mondays roundup, which she started along with 3 Hungry Tummies. Sharon blogs from Sydney, Australia where she is living, cooking and eating. Her site is full of traditional Malaysian recipes as well as tantalizing bakes and cakes.
Here’s our fun little “interview”:
HA: What school you went? (What school did you attend?)
TWS: A little all girls school in a little suburb in Klang, Malaysia.
HA: Why Sydney?
True love 🙂 Or some approximation thereof. I met my Australian husband in Malaysia, we got married there, then decided to move back to OZ, and Sydney was where we ended up.
HA: Tell us what your blog is about?
The blog started as a place to display some decorated novelty cakes I’d made. Then as I read other food blogs, I gained the confidence to post my first "proper" piece. Two years on, I now have a collection of anecdotes about my experiments in the kitchen, a weekly Malaysian Monday post and a monthly Muhibbah Malaysian Monday round-up, plus a space to connect and communicate with online friends from the Daring Bakers (a monthly baking group) and Mactweets (a monthly macaron group). And of course, the occasional decorated cake makes an appearance too.
HA: Which do you like more, baking or cooking?
I actually enjoy both, and I cook almost every day making family meals from scratch. But if I had to choose, I’d say baking. I get more excited about a baked good/ dessert and take the time to research and explore ingredient possibilities, then experiment if appropriate.
HA: What’s the best thing that has happened to you due to your blog?
Finding a community of like minded people. Sometimes, after a tiring/ blah day, I look forward to logging onto my blog, reading comments and visiting my blog friends. It really lifts my spirits, and it’s an "escape" of sorts.
HA: Thanks, Sharon, for being a top commenter, and for sharing a little of yourself with us!
Want your blog featured next month? It’s easy – comment often!
fun event!
Thanks Nate 🙂 Glad to be part this.
