Omurice

One of my favorite movies is “Tampopo”. It is a Japanese film about food. A great movie to watch if you can get your hands on it. There is a central story about a truck driver helping a ramen shop owner improve her ramen, but there are many substories revolving around it. One of my favorite scenes from the movie is of a hobo making “omurice” (Omurice is simply fried rice with an omelette on top) for a young boy:

Annie made some fried rice last night so I quickly cooked and omelette, plated it up, and squirted on a little ketchup. It was great!

Hello, World!

Hello, world!

This blog is about the food and food-related experiences we have. Annie (my wife) is the main cook in our household but I run the grill and smoker outside and have been known to cook a couple of decent dishes from time to time.

I am inspired by such excellent food blogs like Rasa Malaysia and EatingAsia. I don’t aspire to be all that they are, but who knows? Let’s just sit back and see where this goes!

Aloha,

Nate

Scrambled Eggs w/ Parmesan and Rosemary
Recipe from “The Good Egg” by Marie Simmons, p 4.

The cheese really gave it a savory, meaty quality. The rosemary added a nice, piney aroma.
